Attendees look through more than 100 pieces of art from Ohio Valley elementary and middle school students during Wednesday's 23rd Art Show of Excellence at Oglebay's Schrader Center.

Grade school and middle school artists from both sides of the Ohio River were able to put their abilities on display Wednesday night at the 23rd Art Show of Excellence, held at Oglebay Park's Schrader Center.

Show coordinator Sue Smith said that students from Ohio and Belmont counties entered 142 art pieces this year, up from 87 the year before. She said the show was a great way for young artists to show how they're progressing.

"The smiles on their faces are just incredible when they see their art hanging there for everyone to see," she said. "They learn that art is good for them because they enjoy doing it and sharing it with everyone else is even another thrill."
