A Barnesville man was arraigned Thursday morning on multiple charges related to child pornography, domestic violence and rape.
Alan Harris, 38, of 333 S. Chestnut St., Barnesville appeared before Belmont County Common Pleas Judge John Solovan and pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape, five counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and four counts of domestic violence.
His pretrial conference was set for June 12, with a plea agreement hearing July 10 and trial July 25. His bond was set at $500,000.
According to Barnesville police, the charges stem from officers responding to a domestic violence call in March. Harris's live-in girlfriend alleged there was illegal material on Harris's devices, including evidence of a rape. The victim alleged other rapes when interviewed by the prosecutor's office.
The relationship reportedly began when the victim was 16 and residing in Connecticut. She moved to Barnesville when she was 18, and the relationship allegedly turned abusive.
Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan spoke about the case.
"The rape involved an adult, and the pandering involved images that were confiscated from an electronic device seized from his house," he said.
