Youth Services System is bringing back its Celebrate Youth Festival on Thursday for its 15th year at Wheeling Park.

The festival will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the park, with a free lunch served starting at 11:30 a.m. YSS looks at the festival as a way to give back to the community, celebrate youth before they return to school and offer an opportunity for dozens of Ohio Valley exhibitors to share their resources.

"The event is more than just a free day at the park," YSS Development and Public Relations Director Tammy Kruse said. "For some, this is their vacation. It's an opportunity to bring the family to a beautiful park and spend the day without worrying about the cost.

"Celebrate Youth Festival is a gift to local families as a fun way to end the summer," she added.

School supplies and information packets will be available throughout the festival at the White Palace skating rink. Visitors also will have the chance to take advantage of the park's many other amenities, like the pool, the Hofreuter Wellness Path, paddle boats, miniature golf and more.

The Bubble Wagon will be on hand through the festival and Jingles the Clown has invited the Balloon Fairy from North Carolina to help with twisting balloons.

"The Celebrate Youth Festival is a way for us to give back to the community that has been so good to us," said Jill Eddy, YSS Interim CEO. "Our goal when establishing this event was to assure that families have valuable information on resources available as their children start school. It's a day to celebrate each other and enjoy our beautiful park."
