MOUNDSVILLE — Quality Bake Shoppe, 1004 Second St., Moundsville, has been ordered by the Marshall County Health Department to cease operations until it can correct health code violations.

Tom Cook, health department administrator, said the health department received “numerous complaints” last Thursday and Friday about unsanitary conditions inside the bakery. The complaints were made via the health department’s website and Facebook page, he said.

“On Friday we did go in and went through and validated some complaints and we did find some violations,” he said.

During the inspection, health code violations were found including cockroaches inside the facility, said Sanitarian Curt Perry.

“They are undergoing a pest management plan for cockroaches,” Perry said. “There were no rats; there was no evidence of that.”

Some other issues that need to be addressed include removing clutter and the replacement of some missing ceiling tiles.

“We did not shut them down permanently. They have to do the corrective actions,” Cook noted.

Cook noted the health department will work with the bakery and answer any questions they have about the corrective measures.

“Right now they are cleaning it up to get it reinspected and reopened,” Cox added.

Starting at $2.99/week.
