In celebration of National Recovery Month, the YWCA Wheeling along with West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences (WVARR) and their community partners will host the 5th annual Glow Event for Fun in Recovery -- a recovery-focused, family-friendly event.
The event is free and open to the public and will take place from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the JB Chambers Recreational Park on 16th Street. The Glow event mimics an awareness run, but the walk/run is not timed.
The event will feature glow activities for children and families, speakers, a DJ for musical entertainment, glow face painting, as well as treatment and recovery support and resource information. Community members, allies, and people in or seeking recovery are welcome to participate.
Simultaneously, other entities a part of the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences 2023 will be hosting Glow Events across the state of West Virginia.
For more information on how your organization can get involved, please contact Laura Albertini-Weigrl at (304) 232-0511 or programsdirector@ywcawheeling.org.
Registration begins at 6 p.m. and activities start. The fun walk/run then begins at 7 p.m.
Speakers will tell stories of hope at 8 p.m., and prizes will be awarded. The night wraps up at 9 p.m.
