Deer Hunt Begins at Oglebay Park

1 min read

A yellow sign hanging between two trees near the head of Oglebay Park's Serpentine Trail tells would-be hikers that the trail is closed to the public. The land around the trail is being used for Oglebay's limited purpose bow hunt. The following areas of the park will be closed to the public through Wednesday for the purpose of the hunt: Serpentine Trail, Thoreau Trail, Roosevelt Trail, Hardwood Trails A and B, Jones Farm, the Palmer Golf Course, the Jones Golf Course front 9 and Jones Golf Course back 9. The hunt is being held, Oglebay officials said, to help regulate the deer population in the park. (Photo by Derek Redd)
