SARDIS -- A Sardis man is dead following a head-on crash Friday afternoon on Monroe County Road 10 in Lee Township, according to a press release from Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to the patrol, Ty Burkhart, 43, was operating a 2018 Ford Fiesta westbound on County Road 10 while David Stalnaker, 45, of Sardis was operating a 2020 Dodge Ram.
Burkhart reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Stalnaker was transported to WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale with non-life-threatening injuries, the release states.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Sardis EMS and New Matamoras EMS assisted on the scene.
