Salvation Army Needs Bell Ringers for Last Days of Red Kettle Campaign

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree and Toy Shop will provide toys and clothing to hundreds of children in need this year, but the Salvation Army still needs volunteers to ring bells for the home stretch of its annual kettle drive.

According to Lt. John Lawrence and Lt. Candace Lawrence of the Salvation Army, toys and clothing were distributed to 756 children this year through the organization's Angel Tree program and the pop-up Toy Shop that was held Monday. The Angel Tree program allows locals to pick wish lists for individual children off Christmas trees at various businesses throughout the Ohio Valley and fulfill them. The Toy Shop was born after Salvation Army officials saw that there was a surplus of toys and clothes available.

Addition to toys and clothing items, the Salvation Army helped more than 1,100 individuals at Thanksgiving and Christmas receive food cards to help provide their families with holiday meals.

More volunteers are needed during the crucial last few days of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Drive. The Lawrences said the organization is pacing behind its goal of $100,000.00 and needs volunteers this Friday and Saturday to help them meet that goal.
