Jerry Knight, Longtime Owner of Knights Farm Supply, Dies at Age 86
Jerry Knight, the longtime owner of Knights Farm Supply in Glen Easton, died Jan. 20. He was 86 years old.
GLEN EASTON – Jerry Knight, the longtime owner of Knights Farm Supply in Glen Easton, died Jan. 20. He was 86 years old.
Knight was a dedicated lifelong farmer and operated the farm supply for 47 years. He was also an avid supporter of local livestock clubs, according to his obituary.
He enjoyed helping other farms and seeing his customers each day. They became more like family members.
Knight also served with the West Virginia Army National Guard’s 150th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He was on active duty in 1961-62 during the Berlin Crisis.
The Marshall County Commission released a statement regarding the passing of Knight.
“Jerry Knight was a strong business leader in the Marshall County community,” the statement read. “The Knights Farm supply has been a large business in Marshall County for many years.
“Mr. Knight was often one of the first people that people would meet when coming to our area,” it continued. “He was a great ambassador for our area. The Marshall County Commission sends its thoughts to his family.”
Scott Reager, executive director of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, said Knight would be missed by many in the community.
“I know him to be a loyal supporter of the chamber and dedicated business owner, always willing to help others with their farms and projects that arised,” Reager said. “He was truly a people person and will be missed by customers and friends alike.”
Knight is survived by his wife Karen Knight; daughters, Michelle Knight of Wheeling, Melissa (John Fox) Knight of Glen Easton; brother Greg Knight of Glen Easton and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Knight were held at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Moundsville.
