WHEELING - Youths looking to be new students at Wheeling Park High School next year and their families get the chance to see the school's offerings during an open house this week.
"All About Park" is set to happen from 5-8 p.m. today.
Those with last names starting with the letters A-L are asked to attend the event from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Families who have last names beginning with the letters M-Z are asked to visit between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
"We always have a great turnout, and we like to do that to manage the crowd so that families have a great experience," explained Principal Meredith Dailer.
Incoming freshmen and students from private and parochial schools wishing to transfer to WPHS are invited to attend.
The event gives incoming students the opportunity to tour the building, visit the career and technical classrooms and see programs in action, Dailer said.
Information about academic programs at the school will be available at tables set up throughout the school, she said.
Those interested in learning about clubs and activities will get the opportunities to visit other tables set up in the Media Arts Center at the school. Information about athletics will be available in the gym, where students will get to meet coaches.
There will also be the opportunity for the public to shop in the school store.
"We welcome all incoming freshmen because Wheeling Park High School has amazing opportunities for students living in Ohio County," added Karin Butyn, director of communications and alumni relations. "The programs offered are phenomenal, and we welcome the class of 2028."
