Marshall County Entrepreneurship Contest Will Award $5,000 to the Winner

The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging people to compete in its Kick Start Marshall County Business Entrepreneur Contest.

Scott Reager, executive director of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, said there will be three finalists chosen to pitch their ideas on May 30 at Grand Vue Park. The winner will receive a prize package valued at $5,000.

“Whether you’re considering launching your own venture or seeking to expand your existing business into new markets, you’re invited to apply for this exciting opportunity,” he said. “To qualify, you must either plan to establish your business in Marshall County or serve this area with your business offerings.”

He noted participants will also have the chance to attend classes at West Virginia Northern Community College, taught by Carrie White and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Experts.

The deadline to enter the contest is Friday, March 1. Applications are available for download on the chamber’s website www.marshallcountychamber.com or call the chamber directly at 304-845-2773.

“The chamber is dedicated to fostering new business growth and supporting entrepreneurs on their journey to success,” Reager said.

Sponsors for the contest include Southwestern Energy, MPLX, Marshall County Commission, WesBanco and West Virginia Northern Community College.

Meanwhile, some of the chamber’s other upcoming events include a Business After Hours from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Moundsville Center and the Business and Health Expo March 1-2 at the Moundsville Center.
