WHEELING - It's almost spring cleaning time, and the Ohio County Solid Waste Authority has announced the dates and places where its dumpsters will be set up in the coming months to accept items for disposal.
Beginning in March, county residents will have 13 opportunities to get rid of unwanted things. But all items presented must be landfill appropriate.
The dumpsters will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates at these locations:
- March 22: Warwood Garden Park, 1301 Richland Ave.
- March 23: Valley Grove Community Center, 8566 National Road
- April 5: South Wheeling at former Valley Concrete, 3401 Market St.
- April 6: West Liberty Christian Church, 742 Van Meter Way
- April 10: Bethlehem Village Ballfields, 76 Village Drive
- April 12: Fulton at former dog pound, Industrial Drive and Peninsula Street.
- April 19: East Wheeling at former Penn-Wheeling Closures, 58 19th St.
- April 26: Pleasanton Playground, 1092 Currie Drive
- April 27: Triadelphia at Liberty Campground, 6100 National Road
- May 3: Elm Grove at Patterson Ballfield, 50 Patterson Ave.
- May 4: Clearview Community Center, 166 Clearview Ave.
- May 10: Wheeling Island at Belle Isle, 778 North Front St.
- May 11: Stone Church Volunteer Fire Department, 621 Stone Church Road
- May 13: Triadelphia at the campground across from Crows Auto Salvage, 6150 National Road.
The clean up events are open to all Ohio County residents, and they are welcome to utilize any or all of the locations.
Sites will be continuously monitored.
What can't be brought to the spring clean-up events or landfills are wastes that are corrosive, explosive, oxidizing, flammable or infectious.
Tires are also not accepted. But the Solid Waste Authority accepts tires on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month from 8 a.m. to noon at The Highlands Recycling Center. The facility is located behind Best Buy and Hobby Lobby.
