The Ladies League of Marshall County is inviting folks from all over the Ohio Valley to join it at the John Marshall High School Commons for “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” a crafter and vendor event to be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 21.

On top of the chance to peruse numerous craft and vendor tables, those who attend will get to enjoy refreshments and have chances at numerous door prizes. There also will be a chance raffle on a variety of baskets and a 50/50 drawing. A minimal admission charge will be taken at the door.

For more information on the event or how to become a vendor, call Beverly Musilli at 304-639-6579.

The Ladies League of Marshall County, established in 2015, boasts 140 members ranging in age from their early 30s to 90. The nonprofit organization, which serves, assists and supports other community groups, is a member of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce and Partners in Education with Center McMechen Elementary School. The club provides the Ladies League Scholarship to a graduating senior girl, awards a scholarship to a nursing student at the B. M. Spurr School of Nursing in memory of former member Kathy Martin, and recognizes the Student of the Year at Center McMechen School.

Other projects that have been supported by the Ladies League are the YWCA, Harmony House, Crittenton Services, the Marshall County Back to School Fun Fair, Childhood Cancer Awareness, Feeding Body and Soul, John Marshall’s Paws for a Cause, the Caring Tree, Gabrielle Project, Catholic Charities, Helping Heroes, CASA, Sherrard Middle School’s Robotics and History Bowl teams, Wreaths Across America, Future of Moundsville Youth Center, Marshall County Educational Foundation, and Paw it Forward.

This year the organization adopted a room at the newly formed Haven Maternity Home in Moundsville. At each meeting donations for various causes along with dimes for Paws for a Cause and aluminum pull tabs for Hoagy’s Heroes are collected.

The group recently held its signature program, The Cinderella Project, which provides gowns, shoes and other accessories free of charge to Marshall County girls who will be attending prom. The Marshall County Commission, the Evan G. Roberts Fund, and anonymous donors have provided their support. Local bridal shops, independent jewelers, and members of the community have donated their time and wares to give the girls the opportunity for a memorable prom experience.

Since the project began in 2017, it has been expanded to include outfitting ladies for the Night to Shine and Mommy and Me events.

Those looking for more information on the Ladies League can call or text Cassie Sherman at 304-650-0617.
