Those looking for a good Thanksgiving meal to take home and fix will have that opportunity this Saturday, as the Bethlehem Apostolic Temple will hold its annual Thanksgiving food giveaway at the North Wheeling Community Dream Center.

The event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dream Center, 407 Main St., Wheeling.

Bishop Darrell Cummings, lead pastor of Bethlehem Apostolic Temple, said his orders are in for turkeys and pies, and the meals will include cranberry sauce, stuffing, fruits and vegetables.

"Our goal is not to just feed somebody for a day, but for a week," Cummings said. "They always say the best part of Thanksgiving is the leftovers."

People also will be able to pick from clothing and school supplies. There is no income or residency requirement, though children will need to be present to try on clothes to make certain they fit, Cummings said.

The giveaway has been a part of the church's ministry to the community since 1990 and helps hundreds of people each year who have sought a Thanksgiving meal. Cummings said 543 people showed up for last year's giveaway. Between 300 and 500 usually stop by the Dream Center for food, and the event has helped as many as 1,000 in the past.
