North Wheeling Dream Center Still Looking for Day Care Provider

A new day care facility at the North Wheeling Community Dream Center is mostly ready for toddlers, but there is still a need for someone to oversee the operation.
Bethlehem Apostolic Temple is looking for a director of an existing day care operation that is ready to expand, or someone qualified and wanting to start such a business, to come manage its new facility.
"We do have some feelers out there, and we have talked to some people," Bishop Darrell Cummings said.
He said contractors are "99.9% done" with renovations to the child care area but are still waiting for some inspections.
"We believe we are moving in the right direction, but we have nothing yet. We are in a holding pattern," Cummings said.
If the church isn't able to find a child care provider, finding a qualified person to serve as a director could be "one of the possibilities," he said.
"We would prefer somebody who is wanting to do an expansion of their own daycare, and that they would just rent it from us," Cummings said. "If we would take it on ourselves, we still would be dependent on somebody else being an executive director."
Cummings added that running a child care facility is not something he feels he should be doing.
"I'm already stretched and doing the best with what we've got," he said.
That includes making the church's Easter food distribution take place next month. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. April 19.
"We are trying to make some negotiations to raise funds," Cummings said. "All the prices of things we normally buy are going up -- especially eggs. But we can see how we can still be a blessing to people."
Inflation and the bird flu are affecting prices, as is a shrinking pool of food sources, he acknowledged.
One of the food providers utilized by the church is Save-A-Lot, which has gone out of business, and others have also gone by the wayside.
"We have been doing this (food distributions) since 1990, and this may be one of the hardest years," Cummings said.
