Three women who have made significant contributions in their fields will be featured speakers at the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce’s Lady Luncheon.

The luncheon will take place on Thursday, April 17, at Grand Vue Park. In addition to the featured speakers’ lineup, the chamber will recognize the Pioneer Woman of the Year at the event.

The first featured speaker is Amanda Mosman, a pediatric physician’s assistant, autism specialist and international board-certified lactation consultant. Mosman has dedicated the past 18 years of her life to serving the pediatric population in the tri-state area.

Beyond her medical career, Mosman is the founder of a nonprofit organization that supports special needs populations in third-world countries.

The next speaker will be Amy Dobkin, the founder of Amy Dobkin Communications, a boutique firm specializing in strategic communications, reputation management, crisis communications and stakeholder engagement for corporate and nonprofit organizations. With more than 25 years of experience, Dobkins has spent the last 17 years leading public and government affairs for major upstream oil and gas companies in the Appalachian Basin.

In addition to her communications expertise, Dobkins is the founder of Joy Maker Mediations & Breathwork, where she performs meditation and breathwork sessions.

Executive Director of Generation West Virginia Alex Weld will round out the speaker lineup. Generation WV is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to equipping young West Virginians with the skills and career opportunities they need to thrive in the Mountain State. Weld is passionate about workforce development and has helped build partnerships with government, businesses and nonprofits to support young professionals.

Before joining Generation WV, Weld served as the executive director of Wheeling Heritage, leading preservation and revitalization efforts in the region. She currently resides in Wellsburg with her husband, State Sen. Ryan Weld, R-Brooke, and serves on multiple boards, including the West Virginia Workforce Development Board, the Board of Regional Economic Development (RED) and as Chair of the Wellsburg Urban Renewal Authority.

Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Scott Reager said the event would allow the speakers to share their stories and let attendees know they are not “going through what they’re going through by themselves.”

“The luncheon can be very inspirational, and it’s probably one of the events that the chamber does that I hear the most positive feedback from,” Reager said. “I think it helps attendees to hear the stories of other people and what they’ve accomplished.”

Following the speakers’ presentation, the Pioneer Woman of the Year Award will be given to an outstanding woman in the Marshall County community. The Ladies Luncheon Committee votes for who will receive the award from among the local women they nominate.

“I think the award is nice because at the chamber, the women are really the doers,” Reager said. “I hate to say that as a man, but 75% of participants and volunteers for chamber events are women, so it’s nice to see that they get recognized for their achievements.”

The luncheon will last from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to anyone. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by contacting the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce at 304-845-2773.

Starting at $2.99/week.
