Ohio County Animal Shelter Workers Remove Dogs, Cats From North Wheeling Home

Employees from the Ohio County Animal Shelter seized a number of dogs and cats from a North Wheeling residence this week, and drew the assistance of other agencies and Wheeling.
Dog warden Wendy Neubauer said she received a call from a resident concerned about animals being kept in a North Wheeling home.
She and three other shelter employees - Shae West, Alivia Brown and Eric Murphy, conducted a welfare check at 10 a.m. Monday morning.
They seized six dogs and 10 cats from the residence, which are now all being held in isolation at the shelter.
"They were not in need of medical care," Neubauer said. "They were just happy to get water, food and air. They were not being cared for."
The incident also drew response from the Wheeling Fire Department, the Wheeling Police Department, the Ohio County Health Department and building code inspectors, according to Neubauer.
"I was so proud of the crew," she said. "For the two girls, it was the first time they had to experience something like this, and they did so tremendously. They all worked together as a team, and they did wonderfully.
"It was enough to bring tears to my eyes. They got the job done," Neubauer continued.
