Fabio’s Pizza Moving From St. Clairsville to Wheeling

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — After more than 30 years of calling the Ohio Valley Mall home, Fabio’s Pizza will be saying “arrivederci” to St. Clairsville on Sunday.

The new location will be located in Wheeling at 1920 Main Street and plans to have a soft launch Aug. 1 and be fully open by Aug. 4.

Mary Ann Cracolici, part owner and operator of the restaurant, said that she and her brother Fabio Cracolici, also a part owner and operator, grew up working at the mall location and will miss being there, but they are excited for the change of scenery.

She added that the mall has been great but has somewhat hindered its opportunity to expand.

“We would love to expand our menu and just don’t have room for anything anymore,” she said. “We just need a little more space.”

Mary Ann Cracolici added that, besides Easter and Christmas, the whole family hasn’t had a day off together since the restaurant first opened. She believes the new location will allow the family to carve out some much-needed down time.

The plan for the new location is to keep the same hours as the mall location — 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — but to eventually extend those hours to be open later.

Mary Ann Cracolici added that although it would be in the future, the goal is to sell alcohol at the restaurant as well as to have another side of the building that would be just a bar and have late night hours.

Transitioning Fabio’s Pizza has put a pause on participating in all third-party deliveries like DoorDash and UberEats but once it is able to get in the groove at its new location, Mary Ann Cracolici said that it will participate in third party deliveries again.

Fabio Cracolici added that, although virtually his entire life has been spent working at the mall, he is excited to start this new chapter and get the opportunity to be a part of the Wheeling food community.

“I’m interested in the change of scenery and the new customers we’re going to be having, and how everything’s going to progress,” Fabio said.

Founder Tom Cracolici believes that hard work and pizza making is in his DNA. He grew up in a working class family and would rather work than be idle.

“People always ask me when I’m gonna retire,” he said. “What for? I have two kids. I have grandkids. I work for the future and for the opportunities that I have here.

“We need a change and actually have a lot of people following us,” he added. “I know things will be a little bit different, but we’re gonna have to make an adjustment.”

Tom Cracolici wanted to thank all of the customers who have supported his business over the years and said he hopes to still have their support with the new location.

He then thanked the Cafaro family, who own Cafaro Co., parent company of the Ohio Valley Mall.

“I want to thank the Cafaro family for the opportunity that we had here. I have a lot of respect for them. But business is business, and they know that better than I,” he said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
