Progress is being made to complete the new Moundsville Municipal Building, though at a slower pace than planned, Moundsville City Manager Rick Healy said in his report to City Council this week.
“At the progress meeting held last Tuesday, we were informed that while progress is being made, it is slower than originally anticipated,” Healy said. “Therefore, the move-in date of late August/early September is being pushed back.
“Next week at our regular meeting, we will be presented with an updated schedule, so I will have more information at that time.
Great Lakes Restoration, which has led the project, has also hired Grae-Con Construction as a consultant to assist with work flow and subcontractors, Healy said.
“Grae-Con is based in Steubenville, Ohio, and as a true general contractor, recently completed the Marshall County Health Department building,” he said. “Our partners, JD&E (Construction), feel this is a huge boost to our project.”
Healy said work that is anticipated to occur during the next three weeks on the building includes “installing the roof panels over the elevator shaft, front stairwell and tower; installing front stairwell stringers and concrete pans, AEP pole set for permanent power, and electrical rough-in in the lobby area.”
He noted ongoing electrical work is happening along with work on the fire suppression system, plumbing and HVAC.
