The Highlands Sports Complex hosted “Stronger Together: Highlands 5-Year Celebration” on Saturday, marking five years of growth, memories and service, while rallying the community in support of families affected by the recent flooding in Ohio County.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley’s Disaster Recovery Fund. The celebration brought together residents, athletes, families and local businesses for a day of activities reflecting the spirit of unity and resilience, such as:

– A free kids’ clinic and climbing wall

– First responders’ recognition

– Pickleball tournament fundraiser

– Community fair featuring local vendors

– A free roller derby match

“Reaching this five-year milestone at the Highlands Sports Complex is about more than looking back — it’s about recognizing the spirit and unity of Ohio County,” said Zach Abraham, Ohio County Commission president. “We remember the victims of the June 14 flood and honor the survivors who carry on with strength. We also share our appreciation to the first responders and volunteers whose courage and compassion lifted us in our darkest hours. Time and again, our community has shown that when challenges come, we rise together. That’s what makes Ohio County, West Virginia, so special.”

Highlands Sports Complex looks forward to continuing its partnership with Ohio County and welcomes the community to its arcade room, play climb area and programs, including basketball, volleyball, flag football and indoor winter baseball, available this fall.
