Marshall County Sheriff Announces Sex Assault, Child Neglect Arrests

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday arrests made in two separate cases — one man arrested on sexual assault charges and a man and woman arrested on child neglect charges.

On Sept. 19, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Paul Adam Woods III on one count each of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault, strangulation and abduction of a person with the intent to defile.

The offenses were allegedly committed against a 14-year-old.

Woods remains lodged at the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.

On Tuesday, Andrew Snider and Mary Anderson were arrested on one count of child neglect resulting in injury following an investigation by the sheriff’s office.

The investigation began in April 2025 when the Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a child who had suffered multiple injuries, including burns and bruising. Detectives coordinated with West Virginia Child Protective Services and removed the affected child and their sibling from the home.

Due to the complexity of this case, the investigation took several months to complete, allowing for the gathering of all pertinent facts and evidence. As of Thursday, a court date for the defendants had not yet been set.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office reminded the community that any concerns regarding child welfare should be reported immediately to ensure the safety and protection of children.

Starting at $2.99/week.
