Moundsville City Council recently welcomed some new employees and said thank you and good bye to one who was retiring.
During a recent council meeting, a swearing-in ceremony was held for new officer Wyatt Setterstrom.
“Patrolman Wyatt Setterstrom was sworn in last Monday in a ceremony here in Council Chambers,” said Moundsville City Manager Rick Healy. “Officer Setterstrom comes to us from Glen Dale, and is already certified, having attended the Academy.”
Conducting the swearing in was Clerk Sondra Hewitt. The ceremony was witnessed by Setterstrom’s family along with police Chief Tom Mitchell, fellow police officers and city employees.
Meanwhile, council members were also introduced to the city’s new peer liaison, Nancy Nine, whose position is being funded by First Choice Services.
According to information from the city, “the First Choice Services City of Moundsville Peer Liaison provides peer support services to clients with addiction and/or behavioral health issues, as well as those in the community with other social service and concrete needs. They will be housed at the City Building and will also work with the Moundsville Police Department on calls where their expertise can be of assistance.”
The city also welcomed a new probationary firefighter to the department’s ranks; Deavon Biggs was sworn into service in August with Hewitt administering the oath.
The city also recently said goodbye to long-time police officer Sgt. Rich Milbert, who worked in law enforcement for 29 years. Milbert is now working as a school resource officer for Sand Hill Elementary School.
