Work on New Moundsville City Building Likely To Stretch Into 2026

Members of Moundsville City Council learned this week that anticipated completion of the new Municipal and Safety Building will likely not occur for at least another three months.

City Manager Rick Healy gave this update to council during its regular meeting on Tuesday.

“As expected, the latest schedule does push our substantial completion date back three months,” he said. “There is still discussion concerning the entire completion including the demolition of the current building and construction of the parking lot, as part of the schedule.”

Healy said previously he anticipated the completion date would be pushed beyond Oct. 31. Using that date, the building would likely be mostly done by January.

Meanwhile, work continues on the building that will also serve as the headquarters for the police and fire departments.. In addition to the permanent power being connected, certain panels inside the building have been energized, he said.

“Temporary lighting is being switched over to permanent lighting, and receptacles are being energized in certain areas,” Healy said.

“Drain lines and ductwork are being insulated, and ductwork cleaning is scheduled. Power has been run to the roof top units, and the gas line is now installed.

“All HVAC units will be powered up soon. All window frames are complete, with glass coming soon. Once all of the glass is in place, the building can be conditioned and all interior finish work can begin.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
