Ferro Named Grand Marshal for Marshall County Chamber’s Christmas Parade

Former Marshall County Commissioner and West Virginia Delegate Mike Ferro will be the grand marshal of the 55th annual Marshall County Christmas Parade, the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce has announced.
The parade will roll through downtown Moundsville at 2 p.m. Nov. 22.
Ferro most recently served on the county commission from 2018-24, serving as commission president in 2023-24. Prior to that, he represented Marshall County in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2008-19, serving as minority whip.
He has been an active member of several state organizations, including the Executive Board of the County Commissioners Association of West Virginia where he also served as Vice President; the West Virginia Association of Counties where he served on the Board of Directors; and the Public Health Advisory Committee.
Ferro attended Union High School and is a 1969 graduate of John Marshall High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in language arts in secondary education as a 1973 graduate of what is now West Liberty University, as well as a master’s degree in speech communication from West Virginia University, which he received in 1982.
Ferro has had a distinguished career in education, beginning at Moundsville Junior High in 1974, followed by 35 years of teaching at Sherrard Junior High and Middle School until 2009. He has continued to serve as a substitute teacher after his retirement. He also has more than 40 years of coaching experience, including football, basketball, and track at Sherrard, and coaching John Marshall boys basketball from 1988-2010.
Ferro has been married to his wife Roseann for 51 years, and they are proud parents of Brett, Chris, and Adam, and grandparents to Braxton, Grant, Eli, Abi, and Jacqueline.
