Moundsville City Council recently approved bids for equipment needed for the new municipal building, police and fire departments.
City Manager Rick Healy said audio-visual equipment will be installed by TSG at a cost of $65,707. This bid was approved in a 6-1 decision with Councilman Don DeWitt voting against it.
Council unanimously approved spending $15,255 with Bearcom for new police cruiser lighting.
And in a 6-1 decision, council approved spending $53,756 with ESI Equipment for new fire rescue equipment. Councilman Eugene Saunders voted against it.
Work on the new municipal and safety building continues and is anticipated to be mostly complete by January.
The building will house city offices, council chambers and a drive-thru for residents to pay bills. It will also be the new headquarters for the fire and police departments.
The old city building, which is located adjacent to the new site, will be razed to provide space for a new parking lot.
Work on the new $12.5 million building began in 2022, but had to weather some construction-related delays. Then the project’s former contractor, &build, filed for bankruptcy, halting the project all together for a few months. Great Lakes Restoration, LLC, was announced in October 2024, as the new contractor.
