State Police Release More Information In Moundsville Kidnapping Case

MOUNDSVILLE — A Moundsville man has been charged with kidnapping after law enforcement found a North Carolina juvenile at the Moundsville Walmart, according to West Virginia State Police.

Luke Henderson was taken into custody without incident at his Grant Avenue home in Moundsville and charged with kidnapping, according to the WVSP.

According to the WVSP, Senior Trooper J.J. Mumford came to the Walmart around 5:24 p.m. Tuesday concerning a report about the possible abduction of an 11-year-old girl.

The incident stemmed from a report out of Banner Elk, North Carolina, regarding a missing juvenile. Information from the FBI indicated an electronic device belonging to the girl was actively pinging in the area of the store.

Officers from multiple agencies secured the scene and locked down the Walmart briefly to search for the child. She was found with a woman who is not a person of interest in the investigation. While questioning the woman, she gave authorities information that led them to Henderson at his Grant Avenue home.

The girl was safely recovered and arrangements were made for her return to North Carolina. The investigation remains active and is being conducted in coordination with state and federal agencies.
