Two Men Arrested on Battery and Burglary Charges in Marshall County

Two men are facing charges after allegedly forcing their way into a home and hitting one person with a baseball bat and another with their fist.

Marshall County Sheriff Michael Dougherty said on Saturday, Sept. 27, deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance at a residence on Allen Hill Road.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the caller who advised that she and a man were inside her residence and that two men — Thomas E. Allen Sr. and James D. Chambers — arrived at her residence, demanding their chainsaw back.

During the incident, Allen allegedly forced his way into the residence holding a bat, directing threatening remarks toward the woman and man. When the man attempted to exit the shed, he allegedly was struck on the shoulder with the bat by Allen. As the man tried to flee for his safety, Chambers allegedly then hit him.

The woman attempted to intervene, resulting in her allegedly being punched in the stomach by Allen, who then allegedly pursued the man into the woods while making threats to kill him.

Arrest warrants were issued for Allen and Chambers for burglary, battery, and conspiracy. Both suspects were arrested shortly after the incident.

Dougherty said both victims denied needing medical treatment.
