Heaton Appointed To Fill Brooke County Magistrate Vacancy
MICHELLE HEATON
Brooke County has a new magistrate with the appointment of Michelle Heaton.
Heaton comes to the role following eight years in the Brooke County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where she served as office manager and administrative assistant.
She said she welcomed the opportunity to serve the justice system in a more challenging position and always enjoys learning more.
A 2003 Brooke High School graduate, she had pursued a paralegal degree until other commitments took her away.
Like all appointed to the magistrate position, she underwent two weeks of training through the West Virginia Supreme Court.
Heaton will serve the remainder of a two-year term served by Robert Catrell, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.
Because the magistrate is an elected position, she will be required to seek election to the office next year.
