Wheeling Elks Announce December, January Students of the Month

WHEELING — Wheeling Elks Lodge No. 28 has announced its Students of the Month for December and January. The December winners are Helene Crall and Liam Kruse, both seniors at Wheeling Central Catholic High School. For January, Bridget Zimmerman and Ian Sincavich, both seniors at The Linsly School, are the Elks Students of the Month.

Crall, the daughter of Lisa and Michael Crall of Benwood, is president of the Mu Alpha Theta National Honors Society. She attended the American Legion Auxiliary’s Rhododendron Girls’ State. She is a three-year member of the volleyball team, and is also a member of the Science National Honor Society, the Math Counts Club, and the Big Sisters Club. She previously served as the vice-president of the student council.

Kruse, the son of Tammy and Robert Kruse of Wheeling, is an AP Scholar, having won Academic Excellence Awards in both AP statistics and AP computer science. He attended Mountaineer Boys State. He is a member of three different honor societies at his school, and has twice represented his school at the Ohio County Math Field Day. He is the founder and co-president of the Philosophy Club, and regularly volunteers as a tutor at his school.

Zimmerman, the daughter of Aimee and Justin Zimmerman of Wheeling, is president of the National Honor Society and head of the Prefect Committee. She is the co-editor of the school newspaper. She is a captain of both the track and field and cross country teams. She regularly volunteers with both WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital and the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, and is the founder and leader of Project PB&J, where she fundraises, shops, and packs lunches for the local unhoused population.

Sincavich, the son of Karen Sincavich of Wheeling, is an AP Scholar Award winner, and serves as a prefect. He has twice served as a class officer, and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. He is a four-year member and captain of the bowling team. He volunteers at his school as a teaching assistant. In his spare time, he enjoys both cooking and playing piano.
