Marshall County Students Shine in Academic, Athletic and Arts

GLEN DALE – Marshall County Board of Education members honored dozens of students for their academic, athletic and competitive achievements during Tuesday’s regular meeting.

About 158 certificates of achievement were given to students. To accommodate the large crowd, the meeting was held in John Marshall High School’s cafeteria.

The board thanked the students and their parents for attending. Board members shook the hands of each student who came to the front to receive their award and congratulated them.

“It was a great night. I timed it. For 53 minutes we were focused on honoring kids. There wasn’t anything else on our minds but honoring kids,” said board Vice President Christie Robison.

Students honored for their Young Writers awards included Robert Bergen, Ava Pape, Kaden Bledsoe, Lily Neely, Brice Ullom, Lincoln Novick, Arlow McKown, Taya Allender, Aubrey Gatts, Jacqueline Rodgers, Silas Whitlatch, Khiya Bettanazzi, Payton Stephens, Harilila Hurtado, Liberty Johnson, Ella Allender, Kayden McGilton, Tripp Bonds, Chloe Pickett, Gianna Polsinelli and Landon Hicks.

Students honored for their Math Day awards included Abram Wolfe, Tobin McGuire, Gavin Pickett, Griffin Sturgill, Kingsley Zheng, Sophie Cunningham, Tye Mason, Nia Miller, Sam Keyser and Zoe Zervos.

Four students won awards for their participation in Pro-Start for videography and photography: Levi Whetzal, Ash Roth, Taylor Morgan and Rylie Kordack.

Elks Essay Contest winners were recognized: Aleana Myer, Urijah Darrah and Lily Patrello.

Science Fair winners included Bryon Sontonas, Kennsie Grigsby, Kaiden Garrison, Nathan Gomez, Delilah Cox, Luke Colby, Hattie Brautigan, Gage Myers, Gabby Dantrassy and Aubrey Korngiver.

Members of the All-State Band were lauded: Lydia Winland, Gavin Pickett, Alexis Thompson and Winona Sutton.

All-State Chorus members received certificates: Madison Burke, Aubrey Gatts, Ivy McClintock, Lakyn Butler, Ellie Hartle and Owen Finley.

All-State Choir members included Liberty Cuffaro, Romy Danley, Erika Gibson, Lily Patrello, Luke Wilson, Jaxson Rine, Penelope Bonar, Aubrey Gatts, Kennedi Lilley and Jesse Richmond. All-State Children’s Choir members were Kailynn Wesley, Raelyn Goldbaugh, Nathan Gomez, Charli Hawkins and Riley Lightner.

All-State Orchestra members included Cheyenne Harvey, Ruby Hunter, AJ Pintus, Tripp Bonds, Alina Holliday, Lila Roman, Kingsley Zheng, Zoe Zervos and Fiona Ren.

Hilltop Robotics team members were Caron Aubrey, Nolan Derrow, Paxton Yurko, Brayden Hercules, Declan Wallace, Brock King, Wyatt Grandin, Wyatt Bryan, Jacob McWhorter and Franklin Heller.

Central Robotics team members included McKenna Rush, Nehemiah Fewell, Brynn Bowie, Hudson Gomez, Marcus Bellen, Maxwell Markwas, Brently Freshwater and Tristan Turvey.

Wrestlers recognized for their achievements included Talen Brown, Maverick Lilley, Eli Tedrow, Braxton Birch, Marshall Crow, Mikey Logsdon, Waylon Howard, Milo Ward, Kai Johnson, Spencer South, JT Morris and Nathan Hughes.

Swimmers included Wyatt Jefferson and the John Marshall team. The Cameron High School cheer squad was also recognized.

Certificates were also given to Sherrard Middle School’s wrestling and basketball teams.

Robotics teams included the Costco Hotdogs, Cinnamon Toast Crunchers, Rubber Duckies, Clankers, Loose Screws, Lil George and George Drinks Water.

Social Studies Fair elementary school winners included Dailey Doty, Lea Dean, Nora Whisler, Allie Ellwood, Charli Hawkins, Josilyn Fields, Addyson West, Ryker Roberts, Keira Stricklin, Aiden Study, Chris Clutter, Gentry Murrin, Aleese Holden, Emersyn Holmes, Michaela McCardle, Brooklyn Henry, Macy Cunningham, Axton O’Neil, Pace Pettit, Silas Whitlatch and Kaci Lake.

Social Studies Fair middle and high school winners included Kaci Lake, Blaney Brown, Zada Grisell, Eli Decrease, Taegan Pockl, Edyn Wojtaszek, Taviah Pettry, Lola Hicks, Aylah Irwin, Ella Allender, Addison Mlodzik, Tapanga Antill, Lauren McGraw, Ciara Stone, Elaina Schlick, Gavin Pickett, Breea Dougherty, Keagan Steele, Melissa Goddard, Brielle McClelland, Kali Hall, Dorothy Sampson, Liberty Robinson, Annabell Newland, Josie Kendrick, Sophia Moore, Trevor Richards, Alexa Flowers, Cori Wright, CJ Behm, Emily Gatts and Gracelynn Welch.
