WHEELING – Local foodies with a sweet tooth may already know that Nothing Bundt Cakes’ new bakery at The Highlands has quickly proven itself to be a destination for any occasion.
The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new Nothing Bundt Cakes store at 415 Cabela Drive in Triadelphia to the local business community on Tuesday, marking the official grand opening of the bakery that quietly opened its doors a few months earlier.
“We’ve been open since November, when we had a soft launch,” said Lauren McIlvain, general manager of Nothing Bundt Cakes at The Highlands. “But now, we’re popping out into the community to make ourselves known.”
Nothing Bundt Cakes is a growing national cake company established in 1997 that has since expanded to more than 600 franchise locations nationwide.
“Everything is baked fresh daily,” said Jessica Blough, district manager. “We definitely have decorations and cakes to celebrate anything, whether it’s a memory or an event — we try to cater to our guests’ individual needs and help them with whatever they’re celebrating.”
And what is their specialty?
“Nothing bundt!” McIlvain said. “It’s just a simple cake that has sweets and treats on the inside. Our red velvet is not like any other red velvet — we put chocolate chips on the inside, so we make it a little tweaked. Everything is made here and is made fresh.”
The bundt cakes feature a signature cream cheese icing, with a wide variety of flavors from which to choose. Options range from Carrot and Vanilla to Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Oreo Cookies & Cream, White Chocolate Raspberry, Confetti, Lemon Raspberry and more, all intended to deliver a “wow” factor. There also are seasonal flavors, such as the current special — Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl.
“We have all bundt cakes, we have different flavors, and we can do 8- or 10-inch cakes, and we also have gluten-free options as well,” McIlvain said.
Different sizes include big Bundt cakes, tiered Bundt cakes, personal Bundtlets and Bundtinis by the dozen, all in a variety of styles depending on the occasion.
“We have literally everything for any type of event, whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary or a ‘hey, eat some cake!'” McIlvain said.
“We do pop-ups, too,” Blough added. “We have a food truck, so we can park anywhere — whether it’s catering a wedding, graduation, school event or other occasion, we can literally put it anywhere.”
Nothing Bundt Cakes at The Highlands has about 15 staff members. Regular business hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
The local store has a Facebook page to keep customers updated, and the company website, www.nothingbundtcakes.com
, has information on its offerings.
Store managers encouraged people to stop by, see the selections and find out the whole truth … and “Nothing Bundt.”
“We’re just excited to see everybody, honestly,” McIlvain said. “And we can’t wait to share it.”
