Superintendent Named Marshall County Chamber’s 2026 Pioneer Woman Of The Year

MOUNDSVILLE – The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual Ladies’ Luncheon at Grand Vue Park, welcoming community members for an afternoon of networking and professional insight.
The event featured a lineup of distinguished speakers, including Lisa Zukoff, former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, business owner and community leader; Jan Pattishall-Krupinski, senior vice president and chief administrative officer at WesBanco; and Jennifer Riley, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at WVU Medicine.
Speakers addressed topics including leadership, career development and community involvement, offering perspectives drawn from their respective fields and experiences.
Shelby Haines, superintendent of Marshall County Schools, was honored at the Ladies’ Luncheon as the Marshall County Chamber’s 2026 Pioneer Woman of the Year.
“Haines has built an impressive record of leadership and achievement throughout her career, earning recognition at both the state and local levels. Under her guidance, Marshall County has seen measurable improvement in educational outcomes and testing performance. She has also been recognized as Superintendent of the Year for her leadership and advocacy in arts and music education,” according to the chamber.
“A longtime resident of Marshall County, Haines remains deeply committed to the community she was raised in. Her dedication to students, families, and educators is evident in her daily work and long-term vision for the school system.
“Beyond her professional role, she is active in the community and enjoys camping, hiking, and supporting local eateries. She is also an active member of the Moundsville Lions Club, further reflecting her commitment to service. Dr. Haines represents a true Marshall County pioneer – leading with purpose, strengthening partnerships, and continuously working to elevate both education and community across the county.”
The event had a derby theme, inviting attendees to wear their favorite hats. Lunch was catered by Alexander’s on 7th.
