Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Increasing Patrols During Memorial Day Weekend

MOUNDSVILLE — The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is increasing patrols for Memorial Day weekend.

Sheriff Mike Dougherty said additional deputies will be on patrol throughout Marshall County beginning today and continuing through the holiday weekend.

The increased patrols are intended to help keep roads safe for residents and visitors traveling through the county while also providing assistance to the community during the busy holiday weekend.

“As families and friends gather to celebrate Memorial Day weekend, we want everyone to arrive safely and return home safely,” Dougherty said. “Our deputies will have an increased presence on the roads to promote safe travel and assist the public.”

The sheriff also reminded motorists to:

— Watch their speed;

— Obey all traffic laws;

— Avoid distracted driving; and

— Never drink and drive.

Dougherty also encouraged anyone traveling during the holiday weekend to make sure their vehicle is in good working condition before leaving home. Drivers should check tires, brakes, lights and fluid levels and ensure they have enough fuel for their trip.

“The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend as we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country,” he said.
