Moundsville Fire Chief Fired In Midst Of Investigations
Moundsville Fire Chief Gary Brandon has been fired as investigations are ongoing involving both the Moundsville City and West Virginia State police.
In a statement, Moundsville City Manager Rick Healy said Brandon was fired April 24.
“There is an ongoing investigation by the Moundsville Police Department and the West Virginia State Police,” Healy said in the statement.
Former Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Kimple has been named acting chief for the department, Healy said, adding that no further comments will be made by the city at this time.
Brandon was sworn in as Moundsville fire chief in June 2018 after serving as acting fire chief since November 2017. He had risen to the job after longtime fire chief Noel Clarke died of cancer and former assistant chief Ron Walker was dismissed. Kimple was sworn in that same day as assistant chief.
Brandon had more than three decades of experience in firefighting and 18 years with the City of Moundsville before he was dimissed.
