MOUNDSVILLE – Marshall County residents have several candidates to consider voting for who are running for municipal and county seats during Tuesday’s primary election.

City of Cameron Mayoral Race:

In the city of Cameron, there is only one contested race for the mayor’s seat. The candidates are Zebadiah S. McIlvain and incumbent Mayor Sherry Johnson. All council seat races are uncontested; candidates include Cheryl Murray for Ward 1; Devin Starcher for Ward 2; and Joseph Wendt for Ward 3.

City of Glen Dale Mayor’s Race:

Incumbent Mayor Janet Scott is seeking reelection to her seat and is being challenged for the position by Tyler Brautigan.

Glen Dale Council Race

In the Glen Dale City Council race, residents must vote for two only. Their choices include incumbent Councilman Eric Anderson, challenger Robert Hoagy Carmichael and incumbent Councilman Eric Cunningham.

McMechen City Council

In the city of McMechen, voters have three candidates to choose from for the mayor’s seat including Donald Ed McCloud, David M. Kobasko and Sean “Murf” Lake.

The current interim mayor is Cynthia Blake, who is also the city clerk.

There are also races for council seats with residents only permitted to vote for two candidates in each Ward race.

Ward 1 candidates include: Nichole Stauffer, Jo Marie Mackin, Eric Lander and Jake Bratton.

Ward 2 candidates include: Mark W. Lynch, Neal Featheringham, Missy Wright and Randy Brautigan.

Ward 3 candidates include: Grant A. Hercules, Jennifer Fellers and Johnathon Whitfield.

Benwood City Council Candidates

Benwood City Council races are uncontested this election. Candidates include: Curtis “Curt” Mele for Ward 1; Larry Ferrera III for Ward 2; Clyde Bud Lunsford for Ward 3; and Russell Fehr for Ward 4.

Marshall County Commission Candidates

Moundsville resident Leigh Ann Scherich, a Democrat, is running for Marshall County Commission Magisterial District 2.

Jim Kudlak of Moundsville, a Republican, is running for Marshall County Commission Magisterial District 2.

Marshall County Assessor Candidate

Moundsville resident Amanda Lockhart, a Republican, is running for the unexpired county assessor position.

Marshall County Conservation District Candidate

Cameron resident Mark Fitzsimmons, non-partisan, is running for conservation district supervisor.
