Planned Power Outage Coming Saturday In Marshall County
Electric infrastructure upgrades in the Washington Lands area of Marshall County will necessitate a planned power outage for most of the day Saturday, Appalachian Power announced Thursday.
The work will strengthen electric service reliability for Marshall County customers, the company said. Crews will be working Saturday, weather permitting, to complete infrastructure upgrades in the Washington Lands area. To allow lineworkers to safely perform the task, a planned outage will occur for customers in the area from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“While planned outages are never convenient, they are necessary to safely complete work that benefits our customers and communities in the long run,” said Chad Weatherson, distribution systems supervisor for APCo. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding as crews work to improve service for you and your neighbors.”
During this time, crews will make upgrades to equipment that supports electric service in the area, including utility poles, crossarms and transformers. These upgrades are designed to reduce the number of customers affected by future service interruptions and improve restoration times when outages do occur. Crews will perform this work as quickly and safely as possible.
The work is part of APCo’s ongoing commitment to modernizing its electric system. By upgrading its infrastructure, APCo is working to deliver safer, more reliable service to the communities it serves.
