American Legion Post 1 holding Memorial Day ceremony at new location

The American Legion Post 1 will be moving the location of its annual Memorial Day ceremony. The new location will be at the Post’s headquarters at 45 Sycamore Ave. in Wheeling, rather than Wheeling’s Heritage Port, where it had been held in previous years.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, May 25, at the Post 1 headquarters.

Memorial Day ceremony scheduled for Monday in Bellaire

A Memorial Day service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at City Park in Bellaire. The hosts are American Legion Post 52, VFW Post 626 and DAV Chapter 117. The main speaker for the service will be Eric Slater, the commander of the VFW Post 626 and a 20-year Air Force veteran.

Warwood UMC Summer Dinner Menu Announced

WHEELING – The Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, announces its summer dinners schedule and menu for 2026. Meals will include entree, side dishes and dessert. Dinners can be eaten-in with a beverage or take-out. An adult dinner is $15 and baked steak dinner is $16. The hours will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cabbage rolls will be served on June 9, pork loin on June 23, cabbage rolls on July 14, baked steak on July 28, cabbage rolls on Aug. 11 and meatloaf on Aug. 25.

Movie showings scheduled at Moundsville Library

There will be free film showings at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library on May 26, June 1, and June 8. On Tuesday, May 26, starting at 6 p.m., the feature is “Song Sung Blue,” a musical-bio-drama starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as a Neil Diamond tribute act. The movie is rated PG-13. On Monday, June 1, starting at 6 p.m., the feature is the acclaimed 2013 crime-caper “Now You See Me,” starring Jesse Eisenberg with an all-star cast. A team of illusionists pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. The movie is rated PG-13.

On Monday, June 8, starting at 6 p.m., “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” the sequel to “Now You See Me” will be shown. The sequel has The Four Horsemen reuniting and teaming up with a new generation of illusionists to expose a global money laundering scheme for criminals. The movie is rated PG-13. Film showings are free and open to the public and take place in the downstairs meeting room. Call 304-845-6911 for more information.
