Voters Decide Municipal Races in Ohio, Marshall Counties

WHEELING – Contested municipal races in Ohio and Marshall counties were decided by voters following Tuesday’s election.

In the City of Bethlehem, incumbent Mayor Matthew Saseen retained his seat by garnering 371 votes, a comfortable victory over challenger Scott D. Himrod, who netted 290 votes.

The race for the mayor’s seat in the City of McMechen saw David M. Kobasko net a decisive victory with 230 votes, beating out candidates Sean “Murf” Lake with 90 votes and Donald (Ed) McCloud with 67 votes.

Several candidates vied for seats on McMechen Council. In Ward 1, voters selected two candidates and a four-way race, with Eric Lander garnering 52 votes and Jake Bratton netting 46 votes, besting Nichole Stauffer with 30 nods and Jo Marie Mackin with 26 tallies. In Ward 2, the top two vote-getters earned seats on council, with Randy Brautigan netting 110 votes and Missy Wright taking 87 nods, followed by Mark W. Lynch with 84 votes and Neal Fatheringham with 31 nods. In Ward 3, voters selected two candidates in a three-way race, with Grant A. Hercules taking 64 votes and Jonathon Whitfield getting 50 votes, besting Jennifer Fellers, who garnered 28 votes.

In the City of Glen Dale, incumbent Mayor Janet Scott took 293 votes, holding off challenger Tyler A. Brautigan with 244 tallies. Two seats on Glen Dale Council were open, with Eric Anderson taking 343 votes and Eric Cunningham netting 258 nods, while Robert “Hoagy” Carmichael claimed 226 votes.

Incumbent Cameron Mayor Sherry Johnson cruised to victory with 93 votes over challenger Zebadiah S. McIlvain, who netted 16 votes.
