Visitors to the Centre Market area in Wheeling on Friday may have noticed scaffolding erected along one side of the lower market house.

The structures are there while men work to remove the old shingles off the roof of the building in preparation for a new roof. The $680,000 project is being conducted by Mansuetto Roofing and Sheet Metal of Martins Ferry. The market houses are owned by the city of Wheeling and contain Coleman’s Fish Market and several other businesses. The job is expected to be complete by October.

While a few parking spaces are blocked because of the scaffolding, pedestrians can still walk under the structures and the businesses are remaining open.
