Belmont Co. man dies following ATV crash

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A Belmont County man died Saturday after an ATV crash in Washington Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred on Township Road 101 near Ohio 148. Authorities responded to the scene after receiving a report of a serious injury ATV crash.

According to the patrol, a 2009 Yamaha YXR700F driven by Debra Street, 71, of Alledonia, was traveling eastbound on Township Road 101. Ronald Street, 72, of Alledonia, was riding in the utility terrain vehicle with her. While negotiating a turn, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a railroad crossing sign. The UTV then overturned, ejecting both occupants.

Both Ronald and Debra Street suffered serious injuries and were transported by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. Authorities said Ronald Street later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

No update was immediately available on Mrs. Street.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that neither occupant was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene were the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, STAT MedEvac and the Smith Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Warwood UMC To Hold Cabbage Roll Dinner

WHEELING – The Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, will sponsor a Cabbage Roll Dinner on Tuesday, June 9, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. or until food runs out. Summer dinners will be both eat-in or take-out. The meal will include homemade cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and choice of dessert. Dinners will be $15 each. After dinner visit the Farmers Market in Garden Park and stay for the band MSM playing Classic Rock starting at 7 p.m.

WOW Group To Gather in Moundsville

MOUNDSVILLE – There will be a Women of Worship gathering on June 11 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1000 Third St., Moundsville. Refreshments will be available at 6 p.m. followed by worship service at 6:30 p.m. This is an evening of fun, fellowship and worship for women of all faiths. The theme is “What’s in Your Basket?”

Fiber optic installation scheduled in Wetzel County

Portions of WV 20; County Route 20/16 (Main Street); County Route 21 (Mannington Road); County Route 21/1 (Bear Run Road); County Route 21/2 (Buck Run road); County Route 21/3 (Pickenpaugh Road); County Route 21/4 (Ten Mile/Deadfall Road); and County Route 78 (Fallen Timber Road); in Smithfield will be restricted to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning Monday, June 15, through mid-September for fiber optic installation. Work will be performed Monday through Friday. Flaggers will be maintaining traffic. Motorists are advised to slow down and expect delays.

Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
