Wheeling’s city pools open Saturday
Wheeling’s city pools are preparing to welcome swimmers back beginning Saturday, June 6. The city’s four pools will be open throughout the summer season with the following schedules: Bridge Park, Wheeling Island will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; Grandview, Wheeling Heights will be closed on Tuesdays; 36th Street, South Wheeling will be closed on Wednesdays; and Garden Park in Warwood will be closed on Thursdays. All pools will operate from noon to 6 p.m., weather permitting.
New to the pools this year, kids will have an opportunity to attend Storytime at the Pool thanks to a partnership with the Ohio County Public Library. And for the adults, numerous water wellness classes will be held at the various locations. This programming is made possible by a grant from Try This WV. PAP Club holding Polish Heritage Day
The Polish American Patriot Club will holt its Polish Heritage Day from at the club located at 4410 Jacob St. in Wheeling. The day begins with a Polish Mass as the PAP Club Outdoor Pavilion at noon. From 1-6 p.m., the event moves to the PAP Club for food, polka music and more fun. Dinners are $20 a plate and includes kielbasa, pierogies, cabbage rolls, dessert and one free drink ticket. Guardrail replacement scheduled on W.Va. 2
A portion of W.Va. 2 northbound between Wayne’s Ridge Road and Burch Ridge Road will have one lane closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12, for removal and replacement of guardrail. Flaggers will maintain traffic. Motorists are advised to slow down and expect delays. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
Slip repair set on Willow Fork Rd.
A portion of Tyler County Route 18/2 (Willow Fork Road) will be restricted near milepost 3.68 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Tuesday, June 9, through Saturday, June 13, for a slip repair. Flaggers will maintain traffic. Motorists are advised to use the alternate routes. Alternate routes include west of the construction area, using W.Va. 18 to County Route 18/2 (Badger Run Road). East of the work area, use W.Va. 180 to County Route 18/2 (Willow Fork Road) and County Route 1 (Buck Run Road).
Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
