Marshall County will welcome guests from throughout the Ohio Valley starting this weekend, as the annual Marshall County Fair kicks off at the county fairgrounds.
Events begin Saturday and run through Saturday, July 25 at the fairgrounds, which will host a plethora of events, contests, concerts and games. The main attraction for the week will be at 9 p.m. July 25, when three-time Grammy nominee Deana Carter takes the Festival Stage for a concert.
Carter’s debut album “Did I Shave My Legs For This?” went quintuple platinum on the strength of her single “Strawberry Wine.” That song was nominated in 1997 for a Best Female Country Vocal Performance Grammy, while the title track to the album was nominated for a Grammy in the same category in 1998. A third song, “You And Tequila,” was nominated in 2012 for a Best Country Song Grammy. Three of her songs have reached No. 1 on the Billboard country charts.
Yet the festivities get rolling this Saturday at the fair with a 6:15 p.m. ribbon cutting and the queens pageant following at 6:30 p.m.
