DUI checkpoint scheduled in Hancock Co.
The West Virginia State Police will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint in Hancock County on W.Va. 2 near Jackson Street in New Cumberland on Friday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. and conclude on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2 a.m. This checkpoint will be conducted to deter drunk driving in this area.
It is not the intention of the State Police to inconvenience any of the motoring public, but to make the highways safer for those traveling in West Virginia. Motorists wishing to avoid having to travel through the checkpoint on W.Va. 2 can simply drive around the checkpoint. Southbound traffic can bypass the checkpoint using W.Va. 8 onto North Chestnut Street and northbound traffic can bypass by using Jackson Street onto North Chestnut Street.

Union Hill Road closed Thursday for culvert replacement
Ohio County Route 39/1 (Union Hill Road) in Triadelphia will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, for culvert replacement. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated. Motorists must use an alternate route.
As alternate routes, use County Routes 41/43 (Dallas Pike Road); County Route 23 (Stone Church Road); County Route 23/2 (Halstead Hill Road); or County Route 41/1 (McCutcheon Road).

I-70 lane, exit closures begin Thursday
The Interstate 70 westbound right lane from milepost 5.0 to milepost 4.0 and Exit 5 on-ramp to Interstate 70 eastbound will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Thursday, July 16, for road maintenance. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route. As an alternate route, use U.S. 40 and Interstate 470.

Fiber optic installation scheduled for Tyler County
A portion of Tyler County Route 11 (Kelch Hill Road) in Middlebourne from milepost 8.60 to milepost 10.20 will be restricted to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, July 21, through mid-September for fiber optic installation. Work will be performed Monday through Friday. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Motorists are advised to reduce speed and expect slight delays.
