Wheeling Heritage is excited to announce the four finalists who will compete for community support during the next Show of Hands crowdfunding event on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wheeling Artisan Center, 1400 Main St.
Four local entrepreneurs will take the stage for four-minute presentations, sharing their business ideas and projects with the community. Attendees have a chance to ask questions, then cast their vote for the project they’d most like to support. The project receiving the most votes will take home the funds raised through audience voting, plus additional support from lead sponsor Orrick and Friends of Show of Hands sponsors.
"We are incredibly excited to share the lineup of finalists for this round of Show of Hands,” said Ellery McGregor, director of programming for Wheeling Heritage. “This competition is a fantastic way for the Wheeling community to not only learn more about some of the businesses doing great things in their city, but to have a direct hand in helping them achieve their goals. Come cheer them on and show your support.”
The September finalists are:
ELVN Build/Buddy's – Eric Heinowitz
ELVN Build is a construction management consulting firm focused on building rehabilitation and workforce development in Wheeling. Its featured project is the rehabilitation of 128 15th St., known as Buddy's, a historic East Wheeling building that has served the neighborhood since 1877. Funding would support remaining buildout costs and help move the project toward completion.
Oma's Noodles & Tea – Parker Mirich
Oma's Noodles & Tea is a Korean-inspired food and community concept centered on food, storytelling and play. The proposed business would create a space where people can gather, experience Korean-inspired food and tea, and build connections through shared experiences. Funding would support completing a Korean tea lounge by purchasing restaurant equipment and materials.
PristineCrete – Robert Wiley
PristineCrete is a locally owned concrete business providing services for projects including sidewalks, steps, basements and driveways. The business focuses on providing concrete work to residential and local customers and plans to expand its capabilities as it grows. Funding would support the purchase of equipment and resources needed to grow the business and broaden its services.
Table 304 – Libbi Gramby
Table 304 is a mother-daughter-owned coffee shop and café located in Wheeling's historic Flatiron Building, offering coffee, light breakfast and lunch options, as well as an event space. The business also hosts workshops, craft days and pop-ups and partners with local businesses, organizations and artists. Funding would support the purchase of a new espresso machine and improvements to the business's coffee equipment.
The community is invited to support these four finalists on Sept. 23. Follow Wheeling Heritage on Facebook and Instagram in the weeks leading up to the event for finalist videos highlighting each business and project. The finalist videos are sponsored by the Truist West Virginia Foundation.
