MOUNDSVILLE -- Grand Vue Park improvement projects, including the planned construction of new cabins, are progressing well, according to Park Manager Craig White.
White provided Marshall County Commissioners President Scott Varner and commissioners John Gruzinskas and David McLaughlin with an update on the work during their regular meeting Tuesday.
"We have two huge projects going on at the park right now," White said. "Both are on track and on schedule. The cabins' areas, the foundation areas have been dug out so you can kind of get an idea of where they're going to be now. They started doing the sewage line yesterday, digging the trench and backfilling from the cabin plant."
He added that construction also is underway on a new road connecting one end of the park to the other.
The $3.8 million cabin project, being completed by Colaianni Construction of Dillonvale, will include two elevated cabins and two ground-level cabins.
The cabins are expected to be completed by next spring. Colaianni Construction also built the park's treetop cabins 10 years ago.
Grand Vue Park offers a swimming pool and aquatic center, RV camping, tent camping, picnic shelters, cabins, playgrounds, miniature golf and aerial attractions including ziplines.
Regarding park usage, White said the facility has been busy every weekend since Memorial Day.
"Since Memorial Day we've only had two weekends that weren't 100 percent full at the RV park," he said. "So this year was an awesome year for the RVs. And obviously when that happens everything else does very well as well."
White said the park's RV campground continues to gain popularity.
"The word definitely is getting out about the RV park," White said.
"When we built it they said it would take five years before we would start seeing that and this is our fifth year. So it's very nice to see that people do know what they're talking about," he added.
White said the park has received many positive online reviews and plans to share them with commissioners in the future.
