MOUNDSVILLE -- Buffalo Wild Wings, 6 Walmart Drive, Moundsville, celebrated its grand reopening Thursday following the recent purchase of the eatery by a new company, Lancaster Wings Inc. of Ohio.

The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting there with restaurant employees, chamber members and other local dignitaries in attendance.

In addition to the Moundsville location, Lancaster Wings now also owns the franchises in St. Clairsville and Parkersburg.

With the change of ownership, the Moundsville location recently received some upgrades including new carpeting, new equipment and new larger TVs.

Brian Ritzman, vice president of operations for Lancaster Wings Inc., said the remodeling work took place during the past couple of months. He said some of the 55-inch TVs were replaced with 75- and 85-inch TVs. Customers can watch a variety of sports there including football and pay-per-view UFC fights will be shown once a month.

"We're on the verge of getting bigger and bigger. ... We have a great staff and wanted to give them better tools, new carpet, better equipment and bigger TVs so we can show the games loud and bright, and be proud of working here," he said.

Kierstan Markey, general manager of Buffalo Wild Wings of Moundsville, said she is excited about the upgrades made by the new owner.

"We've got NFL and college football coming up; that's our best season," she said. "We have a really great team and a fun atmosphere."

Markey has worked at Buffalo Wild Wings for 15 years and started there while in high school.

"We have tons of sports and good food," she said. "We have our throwback menu, which is a big hit. People have been raving over bringing buffalo chips back, garlic mushrooms back. We've got that and our hot barbeque back; it was gone for about six or seven years."

Katrina Bonar, president of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, said the chamber wanted to show its support for the restaurant, its new owner and to celebrate the renovations completed there.

"It's really important we support businesses here in Marshall County. That's exactly what the chamber is here for," Bonar said. "Anyway we can support them, we want to make sure we can show up."

Lancaster Wings Inc.'s Buffalo Wild Wing Ohio locations include St. Clairsville, New Philadelphia, Lancaster, Canal Winchester, Mt. Vernon, Athens, Heath and Taylor Square.

Its West Virginia locations are in Moundsville and Parkersburg. It also has three locations in Arizona. Lancaster Wings Inc. also owns the Pizza Cottage restaurant group that has 10 locations in Ohio. Lancaster Wings Inc. was founded by longtime entrepreneur Larry Tipton, a native of Lancaster, Ohio.
