Sobriety checkpoint scheduled in Marshall Co.
The West Virginia State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Marshall County on W.Va. 88 near the entrance to Sherrard Middle School. The checkpoint will be held Friday, Aug. 28, between the hours of 6 p.m. and midnight. This checkpoint will be conducted in an effort to deter impaired driving in this area during the announced time frame.
It is not the intention of the State Police to inconvenience any of the motoring public, but to make the highways safer for those traveling in West Virginia. Motorists wishing to avoid having to travel through the checkpoint on W.Va. 88 can simply drive around the checkpoint by traveling on W.Va. 2.
Marshall County DEC to meet
MOUNDSVILLE - The Marshall County Democratic Executive Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Perkins in Moundsville. Plans for the upcoming picnic on Sunday, Sept. 20 will be finalized at this meeting.

MOUNDSVILLE - The Marshall County Democratic Women's Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at Perkins in Moundsville. The upcoming WVFDW Annual Meeting in Beckley will be on the agenda.

WHEELING - The Ohio County Republican Executive Committee will be hosting its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on August 10, 2026, at the Fulton Fun Factory, 1 Berry St, Wheeling, WV.

Cabbage dinner set in Warwood
WHEELING - The Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, is scheduled to serve a cabbage roll dinner on Aug. 11 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The meal includes homemade cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and choice of dessert. The cost is $15. Meals can be eaten in or taken out. After dinner people can visit the farmers' market in Garden Park and hear music by the On the Rocks band.
