MOUNDSVILLE -- The city of Moundsville is slated to host a City Council Candidate Forum at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Strand Theater, 811 Fifth St., Moundsville.
The purpose of the forum is to allow voters to get to know the candidates better before the Nov. 3 General Election.
There are two contested council races this election: Frank Stocklask is challenging incumbent Councilwoman Ginger DeWitt for her Fourth Ward seat. And incumbent at-large Councilwoman Sara Wood-Shaw will be defending her seat against two contenders; Carl Nelson Hooker and Josh Craig.
Also, Councilman David Wood is running unopposed for re-election.
“We have done a forum the last two elections, and they have been well received by the community,” said Moundsville City Manager Rick Healy.
The forum will not be a debate and residents will not be permitted to ask questions during the event.
“Candidates will be asked a set of pre-selected questions by the moderator Nick Healy. Each candidate will answer the same set of questions,” Healy said.
Rick Healy encourages residents to come out and hear what the candidates have to say and learn more about them.
“Be an informed voter,” he said. “This will give an opportunity to hear a background of each candidate and reasons why they should be elected to City Council.”
City Council races are non-partisan.
