MOUNDSVILLE -- Incumbent Charles Sheedy, R-Marshall, retained his House of Delegates District 7 seat during Tuesday’s General Election.

According to unofficial vote totals, Sheedy received 1,817 votes, while his challenger Democrat Sarah Reggi received 866 votes.

Sheedy said he was “humbled” to be re-elected on Tuesday.

“And pleased I can continue to carry on the work for the residents of District 7,” he said. “Thank you all for your votes.”

“I represent the majority of the constituents here and they are apparently are pleased with the job I am doing here and in Charleston. I will continue to work just as hard as I have the past four years.”

Sheedy will hit the ground running as he already has bills submitted for consideration. One relates to allowing counties to increase the bond amount they carry on their assessor positions. Another relates to protecting teachers from violent students, he added.

“There are several bills I’m working on that are pertinent to West Virginia and this area,” he said.
