MORGANTOWN — Glen Dale native Brad Paisley will be on hand Saturday in Morgantown to make his picks on ESPNs College GameDay outside the Mountainlair Student Union.
Paisley will join host Chris Fowler and analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard for their winning picks segment leading into the weekend’s biggest college football games. The weekly show, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon, will set up on the patio of the Mountainlair.
The show travels across the country to the weekend’s biggest games, and with West Virginia ranked 20th in the country and taking on 7th-ranked Texas Christian University, the GameDay crew chose Morgantown for the second time in the show’s 28-year history. The first visit came in September 2011 when WVU hosted LSU. WVU head basketball coach Bob Huggins served as the guest picker for that visit.
“Any time we can get a star of Brad Paisley’s stature on the show it is a huge win,” said Lee Fitting, ESPN’s senior coordinating producer. “On top of that, Brad is a West Virginia native and huge Mountaineers fan. GameDay’s been on a great run this season with celebrity guest pickers and Saturday morning in Morgantown with Brad on our set should be very entertaining.”
Students and fans have been camping out outside the Mountainlair since last weekend in hopes to get a spot up front for Saturday’s show. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials with both the city and the university are preparing for a busy weekend in hopes of not having a repeat of earlier this month, when students set fires and caused thousands of dollars worth of property damage.
The WVU-TCU game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
